Welcome to my "background" page. Here's an abridged version of my experience so far with an added excerpt taken out of my resumé.

I am an American native English-speaking translator (member of the American Translators Association) living in Berlin, Germany since 1989.
Although I grew up bilingually (German parents) in Canada, my dominant language remains English and I wouldn't think of translating into German. Living as I do surrounded by German language and culture, I understand the social aspects and nuances of what I translate!

I have been translating since 1996 gaining experience working for publishers and Internet agencies after an education and unregretable career in the graphic arts in San Francisco, California.


Background:
Degree in commercial photography and graphics in San Francisco with further education in DTP and web design in Berlin.

12 years of experience in publishing and advertising design studios in San Francisco and Berlin.

8 years professionally translating and proofreading.

Berlin
· From February 2001 to present: Freelance translation from German into English specializing in print technology (typography, DTP, prepress), advertising copy and the web. I work within a network of DE<>EN certified and sworn professional translators
